Hormel Foods donates product for tornado relief efforts in Pilger

H

Foods donated a semitrailer load of product to assist with tornado relief efforts in Pilger, Neb. The donation of Hormel® Compleats® microwave meals and House of Tsang® soups went to the Food Bank for the Heartland. “Our thoughts and prayers are with all who have been affected by these devastating tornadoes,” said Julie Craven, vice president of corporate communications. “We hope to provide a helpful way to feed the many in need as the difficult process of rebuilding begins.” The Fremont (Neb.) Plant donated a pallet of SPAM® family of products to Lutheran Disaster Relief, and 200 pounds of boneless pork loins to Operation BBQ to assist feeding those in need. Fremont Plant employees also traveled to Pilger to aid in the cleanup efforts. Hormel® Compleats® microwave meals are 10-ounce satisfying meals that feature quality chicken, beef or turkey as well as flavorful vegetables and pasta, potatoes or rice. Convenient for relief efforts, they are a source of protein, do not need to be frozen or refrigerated and can be microwaved in the tray in 60 seconds. Additionally, these meals are fully cooked and can be eaten straight from the package for those without access to electricity. House of Tsang® soups are 10.5-ounce ready-to-eat soups with an Asian twist. They have no preservatives added, and they are made with white chicken meat. SPAM® products are fully-cooked, which makes them ideal for relief efforts. They are made of 100 percent pure pork and ham, and are conveniently packaged for a distinct savory and saltysweet taste. n ormel

Take peanut butter on-the-go with SKIPPY® singles

T

SKIPPY® brand recently launched SKIPPY® singles, a package of six 1.5 ounce cups of peanut butter. The line includes both SKIPPY® creamy peanut butter and SKIPPY® natural creamy peanut butter spread. “What makes this product stand out is the packaging. Consumers told us that the individual cups needed to stay organized both when they sit in the cupboard and when they’re taken on-the-go in the car or backpack,” said Jeremy Zavoral, assistant product manager, Grocery Products. “To solve for this need, our R&D and corporate packaging teams developed a custom he

molded, resealable canister that has see-through windows in the front and side panels so consumers can easily see when to add SKIPPY® singles to the grocery list.” SKIPPY® singles make it easy to enjoy the great taste of peanut butter anywhere, with portable single servings that can be enjoyed as a spread on crackers, a dip with fruits and veggies or straight out of the cup. They’re a perfect on-the-go solution for breakfast at work, a lunch accompaniment or a quick snack. “SKIPPY® singles will soon be available in the peanut butter aisles of grocery stores nationwide,” Zavoral said. “Consumer products sales should be commended for “BEING THE BEST of the best,” and by executing this new product launch and continuing to gain more distribution.” n
