Child Support Has Been Ordered – Now what? This fact sheet contains information that will help you understand the child support program, comply with your child support order and manage your child support obligation. If you have questions about your child support case, please call our CARE customer service line at one of these numbers: OKC area 405-522-2273; Tulsa area 918-2953500; toll free 1-800-522-2922. Additional information about our program and your child support case is available on line at www.okdhs.org. Payments – Your payment is due every month. It must be received on or after the first day and on or before the last day of the month for you to get credit for that month. Payments may be made in several ways: Income Withholding Order – This is the most common way to pay child support and the easiest for you. Your employer will take the court ordered amount from your pay check and send in your payment. If you are paid more than once a month, your child support will be divided equally per pay period. Payment by income withholding is required by law in most cases. Automatic Withdrawal from Your Checking or Savings Account – If you would like to pay your child support directly from your checking or savings account, visit www.okdhs-paycs.com or call (405) 600-0014 for assistance with the set up process. Check or Money Order – Please make the check or money order out to OKDHS. Mail payments to: Oklahoma Centralized Support Registry P.O. Box 268849 Oklahoma City, OK 73126. Please include your name, case number (FGN) or social security number. Credit/Debit Card –To make your child support payment using a credit or debit card, visit www.okdhs-paycs.com or call (405) 600-0014 for assistance with the process. U.S. Payments Note: Making Internet payments (WebPay) will not stop or cancel an income assignment. For more information, please read the “Terms and Conditions” on the WebPay site. Federal law requires this policy.

It is your responsibility to make your payments. If there is an income withholding order in place and a payment is not taken out of your check by your employer, you must pay by one of the other methods listed. What if I change jobs, lose my job or am off work because I get hurt?—Please call the CARE customer service line right away and give an update of your employment information to a customer service representative. Statement of Account – Unless you pay by income withholding order, you will receive a statement every month of your child support balance due. Medical Support – Your court order may require you to pay part of your child’s medical costs or to enroll your child in health insurance. If you do not provide the court ordered health insurance, your employer may be required to enroll your child in the company plan. Appealing Child Support Orders – If you disagree with your new child support order, you have 30 days from the date of the order to appeal. If you do appeal a child support order, send copies of any documents that you file with the District Court or with the Oklahoma Supreme Court to both the local office handling your child support case and to: Office of Administrative Hearings P.O. Box 25352 Oklahoma City, OK 73125. Modifying Child Support Orders – If there is a change in either parent’s income, medical or child care costs, you or the custodial person may send a written request for review of your order to the child support office handling your case. There must be a 20% change in the amount of monthly child support before OKDHS OCSS will ask the court to modify the order. Call the CARE customer service line for more information. If you would like to go directly to the court to ask for a change in your order, ask about our “do-it-yourself” pro se modification packet. Pro se packets are also available on our website. Custody and Visitation – OKDHS OCSS cannot help you with custody or visitation issues. You will need to talk to Legal Aid or a private attorney. Parenting and mediation services are available across Oklahoma that might be able to help you. Call the CARE customer service line for more information. When Does Child Support Stop? – Unless a court orders otherwise, child support usually stops in Oklahoma when a child turns 18. If a child is 18 and is still in high school, child support continues until the child graduates or turns 20, whichever comes first. Past due child support and interest will be collected until paid in full. What if I Don’t Pay? – Your children do without. If you don’t pay your child support or if you owe past due child support, interest will start to be added after 30 days and OKDHS OCSS is required by law to seize bank accounts, take state and federal tax refunds, seek jail time, place liens on property, and suspend any licenses you may have, including professional, driver’s, hunting and fishing licenses. We want to work with you

to prevent any of these kinds of proceedings. We urge you to start and stay current with your child support obligations. REMEMBER – children who grow up in households where support is regularly received are more emotionally healthy, tend to stay in school longer, and have more stable relationships when they become adults and parents themselves. Let’s work together to give them the brightest possible futures.
