A Year of Hope, Support and Gratitude

Hope I met other women who were going through exactly what I was going through in group. The experience saved my life.

I was so relieved to know that other men are victims, too. My Susan B. Anthony Project counselor believed me and helped me open up about the abuse I had experienced.

We nurture and support families from crisis to safety, healing and growth. YOUR GENEROSITY makes this possible. Thanks to YOU, stories of tragedy have become stories of triumph, inspiration and HOPE.

My child and I had been thrown out on the street by my abusive, alcoholic partner. I had no money, no car, no license, and no home. I was terrified. With no family and nowhere to go, I struggled to care for my family on my own. So, when my partner asked me to come back home, I did. Then, I found Susan B. Anthony Project. Over the course of the next few years, SBAP staff supported me without judgment through several unsuccessful attempts at leaving my partner and a high-risk pregnancy that nearly claimed the life of my unborn child. These were some of the darkest years of my life, but thanks to Susan B. Anthony Project, they were also the most life changing. While I struggled to rebuild my self-esteem and confidence, Susan B. Anthony Project offered me constant support and the resources to secure my own apartment, earn my CNA license, and buy my first car. Today, my children and I cook together, we play together, we live an abuse-free life together. Thank you.

Support 24-hour Crisis Hotline We answer the phone 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. Why? Because family and sexual violence never sleep.

Last year, we answered 2,308 crisis phone calls.

Court Advocacy Every adult and child victim has an advocate who supports them when they must face their abuser in court.

YOUR SUPPORT allows Susan B. Anthony Project to continue its critical mission of promoting safety, healing and growth for all survivors of domestic and sexual abuse. Last year, YOUR GIFTS helped 2,871 people — survivors of domestic and sexual abuse.

Community Education In addition to helping victims, Susan B. Anthony Project presents programs in schools, so young people learn about healthy and unhealthy relationships.

Last year, Susan B. Anthony Project provided programs for 5,973 children and teens.

Emergency Shelter and Transitional Housing Our safe shelter and transitional housing are available for women and children so they don’t have to return to their abuser and can begin to rebuild their lives.

Last year, we provided safe housing for 86 women and 85 children.
