Get Ready to Rock On! 3
Presidents Letter
A.M.D.G. March 24, 2012 Welcome to Interchange TOP 40...and the BEAT goes on! As this great event turns 40 this year, I am reminded of how truly blessed our school is by your strength, support and love. It is through your great generosity that we are able to provide the spiritual and intellectual benefits of a Jesuit Education to boys from every corner of Los Angeles County and beyond. I was in my senior year at Loyola High School in 1973 when Father Patrick Cahalan, S.J., started Interchange. We raised a startling $100,000 that wonderful night (and my parents bought a Hobie Cat!). We knew we were onto something special as a way to increase the support in this community for the work we do here, and have not looked back since! Now, forty years of this great tradition have gone by, and while Loyola has changed in many ways, our core mission remains the same. We open our doors each morning in the hope of transforming our young students into true Men For Others. The funds raised by Interchange tonight will directly support that mission. Your generosity will mean that we can continue to keep tuition at a level that allows for the incredible regional, cultural, socio-economic and religious diversity of our student body, which is unique in California, if not the Nation. I am deeply grateful to all those in the Loyola Community who have so willingly contributed their time and treasure to ensure the success of this cherished event. I am especially grateful to Tracy McGonigle for serving as our devoted, inspired, and creative Interchange Chair for the last three years. I owe her a debt of gratitude that is beyond measure, and am so glad for the friendship that has blossomed between us. Thank you, Tracy, for all you have done for Loyola – your legacy is enduring and profound. I also offer my heartfelt gratitude to the entire Volunteer Team, the Interchange Executives, the faculty and staff listed in this catalog, and to all those working behind the scenes. Extra special thanks go to Karin Chamberlain, our Director of Events, for her tireless leadership and inspiration, as well as for her unerring attention to detail; and to Tom Peck for making the various physical elements of the auction work, and work well, on this special night. You are all gifts to Loyola High School. But my most important thanks go to all of you, our guests tonight, who have come here for the 40th time to support the work that we do. Without your generous financial contributions we would not be able to be the school that is our role and legacy in this city, and I am very, very grateful to each and every one of you. Thank you for helping us to keep the BEAT over the years --- in support of Loyola High School, now and always. May St. Ignatius, of Loyola bless you all,
Rev. Gregory M. Goethals, S.J. ‘73 President

Welcome
March 24 2012 Dear Friends of Loyola, I want to welcome everyone to Interchange TOP 40....and the BEAT goes on! Forty years ago in this very room people just like us— parents, friends and the extended Loyola community— gathered together for the first time to raise funds to protect and ensure Loyola’s future . And while our rhythms may have changed over time, our BEAT, the heart and soul of Loyola, remains the same. Fast or slow, loud or soft, it’s our tempo, our rhythm, it’s our groove. Tonight, on this exact same Saturday in March, it is our turn to protect our BEAT, keep our pulse strong, and propel Interchange into it’s fifth decade. I am honored to be a part of Loyola’s amazing community of supporters. It is through your sponsorships, gift-gathering parties, donations, and volunteer hours that Interchange grows stronger every year. Our school is blessed! This year we have topped the charts in sponsorships. And, with the knowledge that every dollar spent tonight will directly support the Loyola mission, we are hoping our fundraising here will break all previous records. On a personal note, I want to express my deep gratitude to the people who have worked along side me these past three years. First to my cubs at home, Tom’78, Colin’10 and Brendan’12 for without them this would not be possible. Special thanks to the faculty and Loyola staff who always made me feel at home on campus; to Bill Slocum and the entire development team for their encouragement and support; to Tom Peck for all the Rockin’ parties; to Diane Peck for keeping Fr. Greg movin’ and groovin’; and to Fr. Goethals, for believing in my “skill set,” keeping the faith, and keeping us all laughing. I am eternally grateful to the most dedicated and supportive team of volunteers I have ever had the pleasure of working with— Loyola Moms really do ROCK! Cheers to the Champions, the Pit Crew, and the Groupies for fun- illed days of hard work softened with love and friendship. Kudos to Brandie Barraza who manages to keep her sweet smile and laugh while balancing all Interchanges’s people and pieces. And three cheers to Karin Chamberlain, our silent leader, to whom we all owe an enormous debt of gratitude. A heartfelt salute Karin, for your friendship and support, and for bringing out the very best in each of us. Loyola is a very special community and it has always been our collective effort that make this auction possible. This will be my last year as Chair, but I know Interchange will continue to grow year after year, and the BEAT will remain with me wherever I go.
Now Fellow Rockers , Let’s Break the Record!

MR. BAHAM IS... He thought up the entire calculus final in a dream. He taught Mr. Moscicki to “Put some ice on it.” He can beat you in chess after just one move.
...the Most Interesting Man for Others
He has counted to inifinty. Twice. His password is the number Pi. The entire number. He doesn’t always drink soda, but when he does, it’s Coke Classic.
Thanks for teaching us to Stay Manly! Andrew Arizmendi, Aidan Danaher, Jay Evans, Emilio Moran, Troy Nadel, Matt Skoro, Kurtis Rossie
