Lewis and Melody Harris [email protected] or [email protected] Date: 8/21/13 Information for Executive Board and Chapter: Chapter Member Survey 2013-2014  This year’s chapter survey will be geared toward getting to know our Chapter Membership and leveraging the skill sets and experiences of our members. o Questions will include information that can be used by Chapter Leadership, Program Planning and Development, Membership Services and DOCF. o Question examples are:  Name, Zip code, Age, Age Range of Children, Profession, Specialty, Employer, Delta Legacy, Board Membership/Role, Non-profit membership, interest in task force participation, valuable skills, enjoyable activities,  Survey will be launched the week of September 8th. o Opportunities to complete onsite will be available at the September chapter meeting  We are asking all Sorors to complete this important exercise. The final results will be available for leadership and committee use. Follow Up-Chapter Expectations- from Chapter Retreat  Thank you Sorors for your suggestions and recommendations regarding the following questions. o What are reasonable expectations of a CAC member? o What are you expectations of CAC leadership (including Committee Chairs)? o What makes an effective chapter meeting? o What information is most important to share at a chapter meeting? A summary of recommendations have been compiled for discussion with the Executive Board.

The theme is: Now, Then, & Forever--Legends and Legacies. Sorors please share with and encourage past and potential debs to participate in this very special celebration. We are seeking a few "good Sorors" to lead committees including Archives/History and Refreshments. We also Want to remind Sorors who intend to work with Debs to complete risk management training. Information for Executive Board and Chapter: The Hospitality Committee will cheerfully greet Sorors as they enter the building. We will serve breakfast at all monthly Chapter meetings except for December and June social, which will be handled by Membership Services unless those dates are not on a regularly scheduled chapter meeting date. EXECUTIVE BOARD REPORT Committee: Membership Services Submitted by: Melody Harris and Katrina Young Date: August 20, 2013 Information for Executive Board and Chapter: Preliminary Plans for 2013-2014 Circles of Sisterhood – Two circles will kick-off in the fall. Travel Circle and Wine Tasting Circle. Activities are being planned for October 2013. Tentative Activity Dates: December Social – Friday, December 6, 2013. Plans to partner with the Arts & Letters committee to host a chapter event. Delta Dear – Saturday, September 28, 2013, Movie Night, Delta Center 4:00pm-6:00pm. Friday, November 15, 2013, Delta Dear Game night, 4:00pm – 6:00pm. Reclamation and Retention – CAC 101 Sessions: Thursday, October 17, 2013, February 20, 20 and May 15, 2014. Sisterhood Month – Save the Dates: Saturday, March 15, 2014, Greek Olympics, Friday, March 28th, 2014 Dining with Delta. New Activity Throw Down Fridays at the Delta Center---Every 3rd Friday of the month (for 9 months), the MS committee will host a fellowship opportunity at the Delta Center. A casual event for Sorors to fellowship, bond, etc. It will also serve as a reclamation tool; presenting a way for Sorors to “ease” back into the chapter or DST. The first activity is pending Friday, September 20, 2013. Budget Request The Membership Services Committee would like to carryover any funds remaining or that might be reimbursed in relation to the chartered bus services for the National Convention. Funds will be used for awards for CAC’s Dynamic Delta.

Information for Executive Board and Chapter: The Delta Ensemble is excited to begin another sorority year. We are preparing for our standard calendar of events: Christmas Carols at the December Social, Christmas Carols at The Parc at Sharon Amity (PP & D), Founders Day and the May Week Awards ceremony. A representative of the Delta Ensemble will contact the chair of each respective committee to confirm our participation and to discuss details. We will also be contacting Hospitality to continue a conversation begun at the end of last year concerning providing musical support during the visitors welcome and birthday wishes. We are always looking for sorors to join our committee. This year, we are also looking for musicians of all types to add to our vocal stylings. Lastly, we are still available for instruction of the proper singing of our sorority songs.

Lewis, Gwen Devins, Karla Jones & Paulina Bolton [email protected] Date: 8/21/13 Information for Executive Board and Chapter: Community Project- A Child’s Place  A special THANK YOU to the membership for supporting our Chapter’s first Community Outreach activity for 2013-2014. We collectively contributed hundreds of school supply items to: A Child’s Place, works to erase the impact of homelessness on children and their education in Charlotte. As a chapter we have contributed over $12k to A Child’s Place over the past 10 years.  Based on feedback from the 2013 Retreat, The Volunteerism and Community Involvement committee will work on a plan to support the Lunch Buddy program at area schools that are focus areas for A Child’s Place including Walter G. Byers Elementary which we already have a relationship. PPD Goals 2013-2014  Align the Program Planning and Development Committee according to Delta Sigma Theta’s Five Point Programmatic Thrust.  Develop community Partnerships with area organizations in Charlotte-Mecklenburg and with our own Deltas of Charlotte Foundation.  Understand the CAC membership demographics, skills, talents, organizational involvement and interests by building a “talent database”.  Engage and motivate CAC members to ACTIVELY participate in ALL of the chapter’s community initiatives.  Ensure awareness of the Programming initiatives of the chapter to improve awareness and participation  **Integrate new Programming efforts as deemed necessary by the New DST National President. Major Priorities  Increase CAC membership in “ACTIVE” volunteerism activities  Improve our understanding of the “NEEDS” of the Charlotte community  Develop community “Partnerships” that will enable us to support Charlotte Mecklenburg in an impactful manner  Partner with the Deltas of Charlotte Foundation to identify opportunities for further programming, including grant and community support.
