40 Years Associate Professor of Art Doug Eskra “Above all, what I will always remember is that look of awareness in student eyes when they first ‘get it,’ a flash of assimilation, and in that instant are forever ‘more’ than they were a moment before. That look is worthy of remembrance and truly gratifying.”

35 Years Shipping and Receiving Coordinator Mike Coon “I consider myself very fortunate for a number of reasons. One being my long employment at SWIC, and that I still enjoy my job. People I have worked with, worked for and a variety of college personnel I have encountered, along with their cooperation, have made work a pleasant experience. Well, most of the time, let’s be realistic. How the college has evolved in terms of growth, as well as much of the surrounding area, has been something to behold. Thanks to everyone for their help and support over the years.”

Computer Information Systems Professor Sharon Banjavcic “I have been very blessed to work at SWIC. I earned my first degree from Belleville Area College and that degree continues to serve me in my career choice today. Being in the computer field means that what you learn today will be changing tomorrow. I have always enjoyed change, but teaching has given me the opportunity to influence and change lives for the better. I have enjoyed working with many great people at the college, especially those in the Business Division. I will always be grateful for the opportunities, friendships, support and encouragement the college community has given to me.” Athletics Administrative Assistant Vicki Channer “I can remember many years ago upon returning to work from my wedding and honeymoon, I was walking down the sidewalk to my office thinking ‘this is the only constant in my life.’ I had a new husband, a new dog, a new house…but SWIC, it felt like home. With all its ups and downs, joys and disagreements, it’s still a beautiful place. I have been blessed with amazing relationships, supportive mentors, tons of incredible memories and an ‘office family’ second to none. There’s no place like home!” Associate Professor of Sociology/Anthropology Karen Jobe “Teaching has been a great career that is both challenging and rewarding. SWIC has provided great colleagues, a supportive dean and interesting students that have helped me meet the challenges and enjoy the rewards.” Custodial Shift Leader Tim Walker “In 1983, I got to help turn Granite City High School into a college campus and also played a part in the campus’ recent major renovation. Today, the college looks more like a university because it has grown so much. I have enjoyed being a part of the growth at Sam Wolf Granite City Campus. The people I work with are like a second family.”
