Microfilm Collections at Durham University Library Medieval Durham Priory manuscripts: microfilms of manuscript books once in the library of the Benedictine monastery of Durham (predecessor of the Durham Dean & Chapter Library) and now dispersed. (Microfilm collection formed by the University Library). Durham was one of the most important medieval monastic libraries in England, and suffered relatively little dispersal at the dissolution of the monasteries. These films complement over 300 manuscript codices (7th-l6th centuries) from the Priory library which still remain in the Dean & Chapter Library. These films complement the series of original Halmote Court rolls, 1519-1925, among the Durham Bishopric Estates Halmote Court Records in the University Library's Archives & Special Collections. The P.R.O. series, part of the Palatinate of Durham Records, runs until 1619, overlapping with the series in Durham. XM/film Palatinate 3-4 Plea and gaol delivery rolls, Durham Palatinate Assizes and Court of Pleas, 1377-1502, with gaps : microfilm of P.R.O. class Durham 13/222-225 and Durham 227-229. 1 reel. DURH 222-225, 227-228 and 230 are pleas heard before the Bishop of Durham's justices of assize, with occasional enrolments of pleas heard under commission of oyer and terminer or of the peace, 1377-1498. The University Library's Bamburgh Collection is in origin the Sharp family's library. It includes many of Granville Sharp's publications, and those of his associates, on the anti-slavery movement and other humanitarian and reforming causes of the late 18th century.
