Rev. Stephen C. Hudson Assistant Dean

Sister Dorothy McAdory Administrative Assistant to the Dean

INTRODUCTION AND THANKS

To our most inciteful, illustrious, energetic and spiritually impacting leader of our State' Convention, Dr. Julius Scruggs and his staff: to our most efficient, elegant, even-tempered, broad minded and visionary president of our State Congress, Dr. John Boggs and his staff; to all officers, messengers, friends and constituents of this 63rd Annual Session of the Alabama Missionary Baptist State Congress of Christian Education, good afternoon. It is good for us to be here. We come not to erect 3 tabernacles for anyone; but we come to give praises to the one God who is Lord of us all. And that one Lord has been good to me. "I don't serve Him as I should. I don't deserve all of his good. So many things are not as they should be, but God is still good to me!" What about you? I extend sincere thanks and appreciations to all of you for this opportunity to serve you as Dean of the Congress. I am deeply humbled by the fact that I stand before one of the greatest organizations for Christian Education among Baptists in this world today. I thank God for President Scruggs, a proven great leader, who, with a plain yet profound logic ("pray and pay") has put this convention back on its feet and on to higher heights. Yet one who still shows himself to be a true friend and brother to all. I thank God for President Boggs and his progressive leadership of the Congress. I thank him for setting broad parameters which allow me to dream and exercise unhindered creativity as Dean of the Congress. I thank Dr. Hoggs for permitting me to continue with some old initiatives within the congress, and to institute some new. As Dr. Hoggs takes his leave as president, history shall record him as one of the greatest Congress Presidents to serve the state of Alabama. INITIATIVES: 2003- 2006 In 2003 1. A first time COP school was built into our Congress Curriculum. Christian Educators all over our state are earning their C.O.P.'s faster and thereby certifying more leaders, accrediting more Congresses and raising the level of Christian Education all over our state.

2. A first time 2-year graduation eligibility was instituted. This has inspired more people to continue to pursue their Christian Education goals and has increased attendance on Graduation Day and the Congress as a whole. Last year's graduation set a record for our congress. 3. The Alabama State Deans Network was organized as an auxiliary to the Deans Office. And under the capable and energetic presidership of Dr. Walter Bracy, the Network has coordinated and facilitated the work of Deans all over our state and has helped increase the number of certified deans, certified teachers, accredited leadership schools in our state and helped enhance the attendance at our State Congress each year. Through the efforts of the Deans Network, more and more pastors are seeking certification and becoming teachers in our leadership schools and congresses. Last year (2005), Dean Charles Delaine was successful in implementing a Pastor's Alternative School (25 pastors seeking certification). 4. The 5-day Congress was recommended and has evolved, allowing C.O.P. courses and registration for other congress messengers on Monday. In 2004 1. More youth courses were added to the curriculum, to attract and hold more youth. 2. The "Dean of the Year Award was presented and has inspired more Deans in the work. 3. Computer and Homilectics Courses were offered to our ministers. In 2005. 1. We continued to proceed with the aforementioned initiatives that were already in progress. This year 2006. 1. A Pastors Alternative Instructor Certification has been successfully instituted and completed in our State Congress. Congratulations, pastors! 2. Certified Deans are serving as Departmental Deans in the Congress to help build and monitor curriculum.

RECOMMENDATION: 2007 1. I am recommending to the in-coming president, the institution of specialization courses if the SSPB allows. All' of these initiatives and recommendations are designed, not only to grow our State Congress, but to enhance the quality of Christian Education, throughout the State of Alabama.

THANKS AGAIN! I thank the Dean's office staff for the superb job they do. They are a nerve center of efficiency, proficiency and sufficiency under the management of our Asst. Dean, Dr. S.C. Hudson, Administrative Assistant, Sis. Dorothy McAdory, and Bro. Lee G. Wilson, our C.O.P. School Coordinator. I thank the Deans' Network of Alabama which has done a telling job this year promoting the cause of Christian Education Statewide, year round. I thank Jefferson County District Association and Congress for allowing me to serve this 2Ist year as Dean of the Congress, and for their faithful support of me and this congress. I thank the Beulah Baptist Church, Bessemer, Dr. C. D. Patterson, pastor, for their support. I thank the Greater Hope Missionary Baptist Church, where I am the pastor, for helping me to carry out this phase of my ministry. And last, (and I'm careful to say) but not least, I thank my family and my loving wife an Ever Ready Motivator for me. After 42 years of charging me up, she stills keeps me going ... and going ..•.

IN MEMORIAM Let us pause to remember our sainted dead. They are gone but not forgotten.

THE STEWARDSHIP ACCOUNT I come now to give an account of my stewardship as Dean for the year 2005-2006. We attended all of the affiliated meetings of Christian Education, the December Conference of Christian Education, December 2005, Our State Sunday School Board

meeting in March, 2006, Our National Congress of Christian Education in June, 2006 and Our State Deans' Network meetings in November 2005, January, February, and March, 2006. We visited several local congresses around the state and we can report that Christian Education in Alabama is in good hands! Our State Congress staff is certified, positions are filled and we are ready to serve. Now, I come to give account of my stewardship of the gospel. Thanks to Dr. S. C. Hudson, for his vivid exposition of the theme yesterday. In dealing with our Theme, we turn to the book of Acts 26:I9-29. Our Theme for today: "The Heavenly Vision: The Message of the Church".

THE ADDRESS THE MESSAGE OF THE CHURCH IN A MESS AGE Acts 26:I2-23, 27-29 We live today, in a "Mess Age". The Patriots of old would call it, "Times which try men's souls. The poet (Dickens) would dub it, "The best of Times and the worst of Times". And if the Apostle Paul were present on the scene I believe he would announce, that "perilous times" are here! (Because the love of many bas waxed cold;) men have become lovers of themselves and will hardly endure sound doctrine. I believe Paul would agree when I say, for lack of a better term, we are living in a "Mess Age". It is an age where stark contradictions, puzzling paradoxes, incredible ironies and intolerable inconsistencies have become common place happenings in our lives. Nowadays, it is not odd to see fat people, eating 3 "Big Mac" sandwiches, a couple of Jumbo Fries, a half pint of ice cream, an apple turnover, then chase it all down with a Diet Pepsi, in the name of losing weight. It does not surprise us to hear that we spend more time and money pleasing folk than we do pleasing God. Buying $I,000.00 suits, $500.00 hats to wear on two cents beads to hide $I00.00 hairdos, just to impress somebody we do not even like. Strange - but not surprising in this Mess Age - this digital, instamatic age, where everybody wants it fast. Where everybody wants to save time so they can have more time to waste!!

We live in times when everyday our fighting men, die on a lie. - Fighting phantom warfare! - Fighting something they've never seen - and never was even there!! Our judicial systems are becoming the weapons of mass destruction for the Black Race. Our courts are declaring genocide on our young Black men and women. Seems like a systematic approach has been orchestrated to emasculate the black man; where the journey to prison commences with an unpaid traffic fine, and is sped up by a series of missing court dates, - then they're locked in the "system" and it's hard to get out. (Be careful young men and women). We are living in a Mess Age, even in the church. We live in an age where many churches will rather go to Caesar, rather than go to God. When the only thing we have in common with Caesar is our money. When it comes to worshipping God, with Caesar it's "separation of church and state. But when it comes to the money, it's "E pluribus Unum, and "In God, do we all trust". Jesus said in Matthew 6:33, "Seek ye first the kingdom of God and His righteousness and all these things shall be added unto you".

But when the church starts majoring in minor things, when more emphasis is placed on seeking the lost coin than seeking lost souls; when Christian Education and Evangelism has to play second fiddle to anniversaries and birthdays in the church budget; when the color of Women Day corsages can break up the fellowship of the church; when Deacons get devilish, Trustees get tricky, missions get messy, choir quarrel and even pastors get picky, it's time to reorder our priorities - we're living in a Messy Church Age!! The Apostle Paul, lived in a Mess Age. An age when messy people would kill the Son of Righteousness. – Even extinguish the light of the world. - An age when right was rejected and wrong reigned supreme, - when saints of God were put to death for telling the truth of Jesus. But Paul discovered the key to survival in his age. It was the Heavenly vision/ the Message of the Church.

THE VISION It is the vision Saul, the persecutor, saw before he was Paul, the Apostle of Jesus Christ; while on a messy mission, persecuting the people of God. And it was a vision and not a dream. There is a difference. In a dream, we're only spectators, even of ourselves. But in a vision, we are participants -actively, actually.

Ezekiel was not dreaming when he saw that Valley of Dry Bones. That's why, when God commanded him, He could prophecy to dead dry bones and dry bones could get up and live!! Ezekiel participated! His was a vision. Dreams produce little, most times, just nightmares! You wake up scared to death, or you're glad it's over. But a vision is affective and effective. A vision (a heavenly vision) can knock you down, pick you up and turn you around. Set your feet on solid ground. Change your purpose, point you in a new direction. In fact, a Heavenly Vision can call you and convert you in the call. The Heavenly Vision will give you a testimony. will give you a story to tell. And more than that, the vision stays with you. Dreams, we forget (anybody here remember, what be dreamed last night?) But the Heavenly Vision, we can never forget. (It was early, Good Friday morning I97I when I saw the Light!! It is still shining bright - shinning in my walk, shining in my talk.

Every servant of God ought to have the Heavenly Vision. Especially, the young. The vision gets you started, gives you inspiration and dedication to serving the Lord. The Prophet Joel prophesied in 2:28, "In the last days, God shall pour out His spirit upon all flesh and the young men shall see visions". The young need the Heavenly Vision. Saul saw the vision. Saul remembered the vision. Saul preached the vision everywhere he went. The Heavenly Vision became and is the Message of the Church.

THE MESSAGE OF THE CHURCH -What is it? Well, what is it that converts sinners and quickens saints? What is it that makes devils tremble and demons quit their hiding places? What is it that topples strongholds of doubt, and erects fortresses of faith? What is it that gives the courage to smile at Satan's rage and face a frowning world?

What is it that makes me want to sing. - And makes me want to tell the whole world that I've been born again? It's the message - the vision that Paul saw on the Damascus Road. The vision of the Risen Christ - not dead, but alive! A Christ keeping God's promise to the Fathers of Old, Abraham, Isaac and Jacob - that the Messiah would come and deliver the nation of Israel, and reign over all the earth. That he would suffer, die for the sins of men, and rise again. That men should repent, turn to God, and do works met for repentance. The vision, the message is a guarantee that the saints now deal, would be alive to see him; For because He rose, he would raise them from the dead. The message is the "Core" of the gospel- that redemption is available to all through repentance. The message is the vision of the Risen Christ; saying to all the world that Jesus is the hope of the world. It is an old message but it's still good. It was good for my old mother, it's still good enough for me._ The message, the gospel of Jesus Christ is the panacea for the ills of all ages. It is the only remedy for a Mess Age! Paul preached the message in a Mess Age. (Bro. & Sis. preach and proclaim the message). This world needs the message! But I think I need to tell you that preaching the message can be dangerous. Proclaiming the message in a Mess Age will get you into trouble. Why? Because the message is always contradictory to the sentiment of the times. The message is usually out of style. The message goes against the grain of the customs and traditions of the present age. It is looked upon as a strange doctrine or new way. As something Neophytic, Radical, fanatical something men cannot hear, nor bear. Want to get in big trouble quick? Preach a Risen Christ, where nobody believes in a resurrection. Talk about suffering and sacrifice where only prosperity preaching is vogue. The message got Paul in trouble, but he kept on preaching. The message got the Early Church in trouble, but the church kept on proclaiming it. Because the message of the Early Church was the resurrected Christ. They had witnessed a Risen Savior, crucified by men, but God had raised him up from the dead. They preached and proclaimed Jesus as the only Savior. They did not seek political solutions or social remedies for the ills of their day for they knew that!!!!!! does not need reforming, but man needs transformin2;. They preached the gospel (the message of the Church) as the only way to change man's evil nature. For if you change man's heart, he will change his ways, change his character, he will change his clothes! The Gospel changes people and people change things!!

The early church preached the gospel in season and out of season. Persecution did not surprise them. They expected opposition. And when it came, their message said, "We'd rather obey God than man!!!" Arrested again and again just for preaching Jesus, they said, "We just can't help but speak the things we've seen and heard. *Their ultimate goal was to win the world to Christ in their Age. When it comes to proclaiming the message, witnessing to the word, every Christian ought to have a case of the "Can't help it's". The church today, in a Mess Age, must speak the same message. Souls are going to hell, while we're still "inventing the wheel". Men, women, boys and girls are dying in their sins while we are still resurrecting dead issues. Issues like: 1.

Tithing

4.

Same-sex marriage

2.

Women Preaching

5.

Prosperity-preaching

3.

Homo-sexuality

You name it, and claim it.

Issues - that the gospel, the message of the church settled a long time ago. 1. When it comes to tithing (That's settled) The message says, "Do it" -Jesus already told us, "These things you ought to have done!"( Matthew 23:23) Tithing is not an option, but an order! We know (Malachi 3:10) said "Bring ye •....... " 2. Women Preacher? (settled!!) The message says, "In Him, there is neither male not female; all are one in Christ Jesus". God is omnipotent God all by Himself. He does what he wants to and with whom he wants to do it. If God can make a Jackass talk, He can call a woman to preach!! 3. Homosexuality? (that's settled) God created them male and female and God makes no mistakes! The message says it's wrong. 4. Same Sex Marriages (settled) Sophisticate it! Legislate it all we want - It's still breaking the law of God. If God had meant men to make babies together, he would have married Adam and Steve instead of Adam and Eve. (Genesis 2:23).

5. Prosperity Preaching? (settled) Jesus said, "In this world you shall have tribulation. But be of good cheer •... " The message witnesses "the way of the cross leads home!!" 6. Full Gospel or Half Gospel? (neither) no issue. The message is the gospel. There's only one gospel and Paul wasn't ashamed of that one! In this age, we have a global mission, but seems we're still homebound. We can win the world to Christ in our day, but we must proclaim the message. Preach it, proclaim it, If we have to get in trouble; or if we have to get out of town!! The message got Paul in trouble but the message got him out. Arrested for preaching the Risen Christ. Appealed to stand before Caesar, because of his Roman citizenship. Arrested without a charge, tried without a cause; his only crime was preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ. The Lord needs more "gospel criminals" today - Can he count on you? If you were accused of being a Christ Criminal would there be enough evidence to convict you? Paul stood before his accusers without fear. He had heard from his counselor, the night before. Said, "fear not". You've witnessed for me at home, you will witness for me abroad. When called on to defend himself, Be offered no defense. He had done no wrong. The gospel message needs no defense, it's always right. But Paul gave an account; he gave a reason for the hope that was within him. Paul preached his past history. How he had been a persecutor of the church of Jesus Christ; had extended his persecution to foreign land. (The devil does foreign missions, too.) But his missions are messy missions. On his way to Damascus to arrest Christians there, be himself was arrested. By a light that shined that shined from Heaven brighter than. the noon day SUB. A light that knocked him down with fear to the ground! A light that spoke with a voice from Heaven, Saul said, " why persecutetb thou me?" Reminds us when we mess with the church, we mess with God of the church!!! Saul asked, Who art thou, Lord. Voice said, I am Jesus, of Nazareth, whom thou persecuteth. Saul asked what shall I do Lord. Lord said, "Get up. Go into Damascus, I'll have somebody to tell you what to do. Saul went on in Damascus, not persecuting, but praying, this time. That’s how God prepares us to serve. God will blind us, to open up our eyes of faith. Knock us down so we can get up right. Saul went on into the city, blind but with a new vision, a new mission and a new message. *The gospel of Jesus Christ. The same message he preached to Festus; and Festus called him crazy. You've got to be crazy to preach Jesus in a Mess Age. But that's all right when you crazy for Jesus Christ. The same message that be preached to King Aggrippa and Aggrippa almost confessed.

The gospel is a double-edged sword. It cuts going and coming. Some it draws and some it drives. The preaching of it is foolishness to some. To others, it is the power of God. No wonder Paul was proud of it.

POWER OF THE MESSAGE Preaching is divine communication with a view to persuasion. Paul preached it, convictingly. Paul preached it persuasively, until he made his appeal. King Aggrippa do you believe? (I know •. you believe!! - Yon know what I'm saying. This thing wasn't done in a corner!! Aggrippa confessed, "Almost, almost thou persuadest me to be a Christian"! Paul said, "I wish that everybody was both almost and altogether like me". Because almost is not enough!! Almost a Christian is still not a Christian. Almost is near, yet too far from the kingdom. Almost is straddle the fence - a bad uncomfortable, untenable position to be in. Almost is to be lukewarm - even Christ can't stand that. Almost is still uncommitted - still a Halfway Christian. God wants 100°/0 service; 99 and a half won’t do. I don't know about you, but I am like Paul. I know whom I have believed.. I am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed to him against that day. I am convicted, converted; I am persuaded. There is no doubt in my mind that Jesus, the Heavenly Vision; Jesus the light that lights men's heart, Jesus the message of the church, Jesus is Savior of the World. I am persuaded that He is the same Jesus, prophets, prophesied would come .. He is the one who stepped down through 42 generations and 72 burning worlds. Born in a borrowed barn, lived in a borrowed house, preached in a borrowed boat -(Do you believe?) I am convinced that he came in a messy world, filled with sin and shame! But everyday, tell me he went doing good. Healing the sick and changing hearts. Making sidewalks out of stormy seas, taking spit and clay and opening CVS Pharmacies. He went about turning pool sides into general hospitals . I am persuaded he's the one who came turning traditions upside down, and bad attitudes, right side up. He said, "I came not to destroy the· law, but to fill it full". "You say, eye for an eye, tooth for a: tooth". I say, ·"turn to other cheek". "You. say, Hate your enemies, love your friends"; I say love your enemies, bless them that curse you. and pray for them who despitefully use you and persecute you. Oh - But I am persuaded, He was criticized, he was despised, denied, crucified and He died on. another man's cross for another's man's crime!!

He died until the sun stopped shinning. Died until the moon quit, too. He died until sinners were justified. God was glorified, justice was satisfied and they heard a centurion cry, "Truly .... truly ... this man was the son of God (Oh) But when they buried him in a borrowed grave, he slept there all night long - slept while men mocked, and shouted we got him now - but when men say they "gotcha", God always got another word---Early, (when the first rays of the morning sun, kissed the morning dew.) Early, (before the Jewish housewife got up and cooked ••• Jewish husband ... Early, (before the barnyard rooster woke up the barnyard hen and took her off for a morning stroll. Early, (Sunday morning - He rose, with all power in his hand!! And He lives!! Jesus lives! I know He lives. Cause one Friday - One Good Friday morning - He arrested me!! One Friday - I saw the Light-shining bright - He stopped me, on my messy mission. Changed my direction. Said, "Go and I'll be with you, until the end of the age. Jesus, my arresting officer, my speed cop from glory. My stop light from Heaven. He lives! Do you know he lives!? Because He lives we live! Because He lives, we suffer now, but we'll reign with Him on high. Because - weeping endureth just for night, joy comes-- Because He lives, wrong may sit on the throne and right may yield to might!! But if I'm Right, my battles He will fight (Because He lives). Because He lives, all of our inconsistencies will become certainties. Life's puzzles solved. * All our paradoxes shall be made plain. Because He lives, we can be certain, the mournful shall be comforted; the meek shall inherit the earth. The poor in spirit shall have the kingdom of heaven, and the pure in heart shall see God! Because He lives, Come storm or come calm, Jesus my Rock ...• Jesus my shelter ... Jesus, He will fix it after while. Won't he do it? Won't he .... ? Because He lives I can face tomorrow. Because He lives all fears are gone. The road may be rough; the going gets tough the hills may be hard to climb; But I started out a long time ago; There is no doubt in my mind; I've decided, I'm persuaded, I've made Jesus my choice!! Do you know Him? Tried Him? Ain't .•...... All right! Own Him? Say yes!!

ADDRESS BY JOHN D. HOGGS, PRESIDENT DURING THE ANNUAL SESSION OF THE ALABAMA STATE CONGRESS OF CHRISTIAN CHRISTIAN EDUCATION SELMA, ALABAMA JULY 25 – 25, 2006 SUBJECT: “WATCHMEN, WHAT OF THE NIGHT”

”WATCHMEN, WHAT OF THE NIGHT” Isaiah 21: 11-12 (CEV) (11) This is a message about Dumah; From the country of Seir; someone shouts to me, Guard, how much longer before daylight? (12) From my guard post, I answered, morning will soon be here, but night will return. If you want to know more, come back later. 1. What Time Is It? (question # 1) - Is it morning, midday, afternoon, night, or midnight? For some of us, it is morning, daylight, for some it is noon or midday, for most of us, it is Midnight. - There is something about the night that causes pain, sorry, sleepiness, and sometimes, bad dreams. Midnight in our daily lives consist of family breakups, unforgiving spirits, jealousy, and broken neighborhoods. We have youth destroying youth, violence and killing in our schools. What Time Is It? I can't tell by my watch, but I can tell by reading the Newspapers, looking at Television, or sometimes, going to church. Politics, crime, the weather forecast of storms and false worshipping. We have been drugged, falsely deaden. - In the night, in our daily lives and activities, everything is coming against you. We are running against a head win, that is most of the progress we gain is after" Contact", (Traits of a good football runner. It) swimming against the Tide. - In the night, everything is coming against you. But there is HOPE and Blessings that come with suffering; For examples: 1. Peter was released from prison by angels of the Lord, after much prayer. Acts (12:6-7) at Night. 2. Nichodemus' visits with Jesus at night. (John 3: 1-2)

3. Jacob's wrestles with Gods angel for his blessings. (Genesis 32:24-26) The death angel passed through Egypt at Midnight. (Exodus 12:29) 5. Ruth encounter with Boaz and fell in love at night; (Ruth 3:7) 6. Paul and Silas had prayer meeting in the Roman jail at midnight.

What Time Is It? Is it morning, noon or night? For those of us troubled by midnight crisis in our lives, we just might do as Paul and Silas, just have a midnight prayer meeting and "we have a little talk with Jesus, and tell him about our troubles, about lies, heartaches, backbiting, jealousy. We are serving through a season of sufferings. 2. Do you see what I see? (question#2) - I see a special group of Warriors. Who are they? Crowded prisons (mostly black). In our schools, who is the most often sent to the office? Who is suspended the most? Who is expelled the most? Who is most likely to score the lowest on tests? Who fails in grade the most? Who has the highest drop out rate? - Do you see what I see? I see a difference between what we preach or say and what we do or stand for. - Do you see what I see? As I look at Television, I see how people are looking to the psychic to give directions on the 24-hour hotline. - I see Christian solders serving through a season of sufferings, angry, hurt;failure, demons, devils and disease. - Do you see what I see? I see a battle going on to save our children. There is an effort to destroy our children tear up our homes, and wreck our families. - I see stranger generation, a generation of young people with an attitude, but no aptitude. A generation dressed to kill and killing to dress. Gold is more important than God, Greenbacks are more important than Grace. - There is a Sneaker madness and clothes madness. Nike shoes, Air Jordan, K-Swiss, FUBU, Pelle Pelle, Polo and Tommy Hilfiger. As parents, Grandparents and other caregivers, we are trying to buy our children's love with thing money can't buy.

- Let me tell you: There is some things money can't buy: Money CANNOT ... Forgive sin, give Eternal Salvation, give us Grace and the Mercy of God. Money can't buy a good mother and father, nor Dignity and Self-Respect. Money can't buy a peace of mind nor a good name.

MONEY CAN BUY: ο Food, but not an appetite. ο House, but not a home. ο Bed, but not a home. ο Relationship, but not love. ο Happiness, but not joy. ο Medicine, but not good health. ο Education, but not good sense. ο Money can buy a car, but can't rebuild a wrecked life. IN SUMMARY: As I let my mind run back, mother nor grandma depended on the "Psychics", she trusted God. She said, " Jesus is on the main line, tell him what you want. Call him up and tell him what you want." As the Clergy preach to our people that is: Adults, Mature Christians and Youth alike. We shall, we should, we must, remind them, they have only one "Life to Live." "I Am the Light of the World.” We must leave here with these reminders . .

-

THERE IS: 1. Work to be done. - "Jesus is calling" 2. Testimonies to be shared. - "I have Testimony" 3. Messages to be told. - "I love to tell the story" 4. Prayers to be prayed - "Did you think to pray this morning" 5. A promise to be claimed. - I promised the Lord that I will hold out" Habits to be conquered. - "I Surrender All" 7. Temptation to overcome. - "Yield Not to Temptation" 8. Jobs to be accomplished. -" Onward, Christian Solders" 9. Duties to be performed. - " Count on Me" 6.

3. DO YOU HEAR WHAT I HEAR? (question #3) -- I hear Jesus telling us: "Walk together children, don't get we my, there's a great camp meeting in the Promise Land." - "I can Hear my Savior Calling" - I hem' the songwriter says, "I don't feel no ways tired. I've come this far from where I started from. Nobody told me the road would be easy. I don't believe He brought me this far to leave me."

C.

Do You Recognize Your Blessings? - I ask for Strength and God gave me Difficulties to make me strong. - I Asked for wisdom and God gave me Problems to solve. - I asked for Prosperity and God gave me Brains and Brawn to work. - I asked for Courage and God gave me Danger to overcome. - I asked for Love and God gave me Troubled people to help. - I asked for Favors and God gave me Opportunities.

I RECEIVED NOTHING I WANTED - I RECEIVED EVERYTHING I NEEDED. I need to get my Vision Clear. "I can see clearly now that the Rain is gone." Isn't it time that you discovered the goodness, the Power, and the Blessings of God?

Reporting of Corresponding Secretary 2006 It’s my desire to do some good things everyday. It’s my desire to help one fallen by the way. It’s my desire to bring the lost in from the cold. It's my desire to be like the Lord. In the true spirit of Christian service I greet this, the 63rd Annual Sessions of the Alabama Baptist State Congress of Christian Education. I thank God for my being here and I thank this Congress for affording me the opportunity to serve. Following the 2005 Annual Congress, I placed in the Baptist Leader, our official newspaper, copies of the Dean's address and the President's Address along with their photographs. In March of 2006, I mailed 300 letters announcing the Board Meeting, which was held at the 2nd Avenue Beulah Baptist Church, Bessemer, AL; Rev. Dr. C. D. Patterson, Pastor. Included in that correspondence were directions to the church. In July, I mailed 300 letters announcing this session. This correspondence included representation fees, special efforts, and communication from both the Dean's office and the youth department. Expenses incurred were $342.00 Humbly submitted,
